This course has been designed to deliver a high level of occupational skills and provide a platform from which to progress through further learning to an apprenticeship programme or into employment. This vocational route at Level 2 is a vital step towards becoming a competent plumber.
What else do I need to know?
This qualification will help you gain an understanding of the skills required within the plumbing sector. You will cover compulsory aspects such as:
- Health and safety and industry practices
- Electric and scientific principles
- Hot water / Cold water
- Sanitation and drainage
- Central heating
- Plumbing processes
To study the Technical Certificate in Plumbing Level 2, you will need Maths and English GCSEs at grade 4 or above for direct entry or a relevant level 1 qualification.
The Plumbing Technical Certificate will take one year to complete. Starting in September 2025 you will attend college for up to four days a week.
This course is free if you are under the age of 19 on 31 August of the year you start the course.
If you are aged 19+, this course will cost 拢1500.

During this course, you'll be assessed through an end-of-year exam and practical synoptic exercise.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to progress into industry.
