Health & Social Care Courses

Overview

On our Health and Social Care courses, you will gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to work in a range of caring professions. You will learn in the College鈥檚 Care Centre of Regional Excellence (Care CoRE), where you can practise real-life care scenarios in a safe, supportive environment using industry-standard equipment, including a clinical ward and a fully equipped working flat.

You will cover essential topics such as ethics, safeguarding, and person-centred care, and have the chance to apply your learning through work placements with the NHS, GP surgeries, residential and nursing homes, special schools, and hospices. By combining practical experience with classroom learning, you鈥檒l be ready to start a rewarding career in Health and Social Care.

Care CoRE

Our Care Centre of Regional Excellence (Care CoRE) is an innovative, multi-functional training facility designed to give you a realistic and immersive learning experience in Health and Social Care.

You will have access to an industry-standard clinical ward and a fully equipped working flat for social care, including a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, giving you the chance to experience supported living in a safe, hands-on environment.

You will get to use brand-new, cutting-edge equipment, including virtual and augmented reality, smart technologies like motion sensors, remote monitoring, and smart fridges, as well as ceiling track hoists, vital signs monitors, a diabetic foot simulator, medical screens, mannequins, iPads, and specialist furniture. Every element of the centre is designed to make your learning exciting, practical, and directly relevant to a career in Health and Social Care.

Daily Tasks

Directs children to cross the road when safe.
Signals approaching traffic to stop by using hand signals and school crossing signs.
Waits for a safe gap in traffic and walks to the centre of road.
Meets children wanting to cross the road and directs them to wait at the kerb.
Assists young children with feeding, dressing, washing and toiletry activities.
Cares for sick children and administers first aid if necessary.
Supervises the playground activities of children during meal and break times.
