Course Summary
The Level 2 Principles of Dementia Care Certificate is designed for anyone working or hoping to work in adult health and social care and for those who support family/friends with Dementia.
It will develop your knowledge and understanding of what dementia is and how to support individuals with dementia. This includes understanding a range of theoretical models and types of dementia.
The benefits of engaging in activities are also explored. This qualification is intended to update and continue your professional development (CPD) and to develop knowledge/skills relevant to the occupational specialisation.
You will have 1-1 support from an assessor within the health and social care department. Your assessor is occupational competent and will support and work with you throughout the qualification period.

During the Level 2 Principles of Dementia Care Certificate you will study:
- Unit 1 -鈥疍ementia awareness
- Unit 2 -鈥疶he person-centred approach to the care and support of individuals with dementia
- Unit 3 - Understand the factors that can influence communication and interaction with individuals who have dementia
- Unit 4 -鈥疷nderstand equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care
- Unit 5 -鈥疷nderstand the administration of medication to individuals with dementia using a person-centred approach
- Unit 6 -鈥疷nderstand behaviour in the context of dementia
- Unit 7 -鈥疷nderstand the benefits of engaging in activities in social care
